How to choose ERP software in Pakistan: 3 questions to ask before you buy

Every ERP looks perfect in a demo. The real test starts a few months after go-live. Before you sign, ask these three questions.

1. Can you show it on my own data and process?

A demo on a sample company proves the software works for the sample company. Ask the vendor to walk through one of your real processes, for example a sales order that goes from booking to dispatch to invoice to recovery, with your own items and customers.

2. Who implements it, how long does it take, and how many users get trained?

Most ERP projects fail because of implementation, not software. Ask for a written plan: who from the vendor's team will set it up, how your data will be migrated from Excel, Tally or QuickBooks, which milestones you will see, and how many of your users will be trained, department by department.

3. What is the support SLA after go-live?

Problems will come up. What matters is how fast they are solved. Ask how you report an issue, how quickly someone responds, and whether support is local. A clear service level agreement (SLA) is worth more than a small discount on the licence.

If the answers aren't clear

If a vendor cannot answer these three questions clearly, pause, even if the price is attractive. The cheapest ERP is the one your team actually uses.
